Hi Terence, I see lots of advice on karts with back brakes only. I am racing a KZ with a TM 125 engine. Is there any advice on braking with front brakes? I am a good bit older(50+) but still enjoy it. and the fear factor has increased with age. I am hitting the pedal harder but sometimes the front shakes or locks. Still trying to go deeper into the corner but something keeps me from doing it. Many thanks, Gordon.

Hi Graham, with front brakes it is different. I would focus on braking that guarantees a fast exit, with nice predictable downshifts. Kz is more about rhythm and getting into a zone where you get all your shifts perfect

No! I’m just an old git enjoying my cars on the road, the nordschleife whenever I can l, and the occasional track day. But I left foot brake whenever I’m in my van or any two pedal car i happen to have in the stable! Currently there are only 3 pedal versions of my favourite cars - but these are all 100% analogue old school small light and rwd.

Whilst road car braking rarely requires the limit finding race brake technique you’ve described so well today, the ability to play with weight transfer and develop grip front to rear is still just as satisfying and fun. It may in fact be close to the last dregs of pleasure road driving can still deliver these days.

An empty van can sometimes give a bit of the 'backing it in' feeling, not by design of course lol
